Meet the Founder

Meet Paul Kihiko, Founder of the First Chicken Wings Only Restaurant in Nairobi

Paul Kihiko‘s entrepreneurship journey is a typical proof that any business idea can thrive if the right instruments and strategies are put in place. He is the Founder of Wing It Nairobi, a restaurant that specializes in the sales of chicken wings in Nairobi, Kenya.

Kihiko is also an experienced director with a demonstrated history of working in the food & beverages industry. Skilled in Negotiation, Business Development, Marketing Strategy, Restaurant Management, and New Restaurant Openings.

He studied at Cesar Ritz Colleges and University of Sunderland International Tourism & Hospitality Management.

Kihiko conceived the idea of specialising in chicken wings when he went to a restaurant with his friend. He recalled “When the waiter came to the table with the menu, it had all the usual items: burgers, chicken, everything. But everybody somehow decided to take chicken wings – the whole table. So he thought, why not start something because it’s a business he has seen working very well in Europe and the US. It’s a huge industry.”

Kihiko decided to launch his own chicken wings business, but initially had issues with securing a space. He got his father on board, who later invested in the business to open the first Wing It restaurant.

Today, Wing It Nairobi has two restaurants in the Galleria and The Hub shopping malls in Kenya’s capital Nairobi. The company offers chicken wings in 15 flavours, which Kihiko himself created by experimenting with different recipes. The shops currently have a combined monthly revenue of about $15,000.

Looking ahead, Wing It plans to expand to other African countries and according to Kihiko, is currently seeking investors to finance its expansion plans
