30 Startups Selected To Launch At Demo Africa 2017

DEMO Africa has unveiled a list of 30 companies that have been selected from 29 African countries, to launch their products at this year’s launch event in Johannesburg, South Africa on on November 23-24.

“We received a total of 956 applications this year, which is about 20% more than last year,” said Harry Hare, Executive Director and Producer of DEMO Africa.  The applications covered all major verticals – health, agriculture, trade and commerce, manufacturing, hospitality and entertainment, banking and finance. “We are very pleased with the applications received, the diversity and quality is amazing,” Harry continued.

The 30 statups are spread over 10 countries with South Africa and Nigeria leading the pack, where South Africa produced 8, Nigeria 7, Kenya 6, Ghana and Zimbabwe 2 each and 1 from, Cameroon, Tanzania, Senegal, Morocco and Uganda.

26 of the startups were selected from an original pool of 956 applications, while four additional startups were picked at the regional innovation tours that ran between March and July.

The South African startups selected for the event are:

  • SeeBox producer K Measure
  • Picadoo
  • Spazapp
  • Tapsnapp
  • Airbuy
  • FinChatBot
  • Intelligent Routing
  • Rooster.

Nigeria is represented by:

  • Mobile Forms
  • Atele Advanced Solutions
  • Peachwater Consulting
  • Suvenia
  • Medsaf
  • Pepperest
  • GoSpot.

The Kenyan startups on the list are:

  • Chimera IoT
  • Shield Enterprise
  • ZOA Tech
  • Daktari Africa
  • Taz Technologies
  • Optimetriks

Ghana is represented by Bisa and KudiGo, and Zimbabwe represented by Dadala and DrCADx.

A-Trader (Tanzania), Temateq (Cameroon), JokkoText (Senegal), SOS Sante (Morocco) and Sellio (Uganda) complete the shortlist.
